Subscribers can protect PDF file or data with the following Microsoft Services:
Prerequisites
If you are using the Microsoft Azure Rights Management (Azure RMS) environment, you can log in to the RMS server directly within Foxit PDF Reader Mobile.
If you are using the Microsoft Information Protection environment, you need to do the following deployment steps.
Deploy Microsoft Information Protection
In order to use Microsoft Information Protection in your client system, you need to follow Microsoft's instructions to deploy the Microsoft Information Protection mobile device extension first. For detailed deployment steps, please refer to “Active Directory Rights Management Services Mobile Device Extension”.
When deploying Microsoft Information Protection mobile device extension, you need to run the following Windows PowerShell commands in order to authorize Foxit PDF Reader Mobile for your devices.

Protect a PDF File with Microsoft Information Protection
Encrypt a PDF File
- On the document pane, tapon the toolbar on the top;
- Scroll down to find more options, and tap Microsoft Information Protect;
- Input the account and password to sign in;
- Choose an existing rights policy template from the list or create custom permissions to encrypt the file. For instructions on how to create custom permissions, please refer to “Create Custom Permissions”.
Tips:
- Foxit PDF Reader Mobile allows you to encrypt PDF files with the official rights policy templates as well as custom templates. The official rights policy templates are stored on the MIP server. Custom templates are customized by users. For instructions on how to create a custom template, please refer to “Create Custom Permissions”.
- Foxit PDF Reader Mobile supports Microsoft IRM protection for PFILE. PDF documents protected by Foxit PDF Reader Mobile will be saved as PPDF files. If you need to save encrypted files as standard PDF files, please contact Foxit at sales@foxitsoftware.com for customized package services.
Create Custom Permissions
- On the document pane, tapon the toolbar on the top;
- Scroll down to find more options, and tap Microsoft Information Protect;
- Input the account and password to sign in;
- Tap Custom Permissions;
- In the Add Users tab, you can do the following:
- Tap Read field, Change field, or Full Control field to input the email address of a user that you want to authorize with Read permission, Change permissions, or all permissions.
- Tap beside the Read or Change field to authorize all users with the permissions.
- Tap to remove an added user if needed;
- In the More Options tab, you can do the following:
- To set the document expiration date: slide the This document expires on toggle to ON, and input the date and time. The document cannot be opened after the specified date.
- To allow users to print the PDF file, copy content, or comment in the document, slide the Print Content, Copy Content, or Comment in the document toggle to ON as desired.
- To specify the email address that is used for applying for additional permissions, tap the User can request additional permissions from field, and input the email address.
- To verify user's permission every time the encrypted PDF file is opened, slide the Require a connection to verify a user's permission toggle to ON.
- To add a security watermark to the PDF file, slide Security Watermark toggle to ON, tap Add Security Watermark, and then follow the steps below to create a security watermark.
- In the pop-up window, input the name of the watermark and tap OK;
- Tap to add text; or tap to add dynamic text;
- Tap to set the rotation degree of the watermark;
- Tap to set the position of the watermark;
- Tap to specify the page range to display the watermark;
- Tap to set the scale ratio relative to target page, and the font, font size, color, and opacity of the text;
- Tap and choose Save to save the security watermark and return to the Restricted Access window. In the Restricted Access window, you can also tapbeside the security watermark to edit or delete it as desired.
- Do one of the following as desired:
- If you need to encrypt the PDF file with the custom permissions directly, tap OK;
- If you want to save the custom permissions as a template, tap on the upper right corner of the interface.
Manage Custom Templates
- On the document pane, tapon the toolbar on the top;
- Scroll down to find more options, and tap Microsoft Information Protect;
- In the Restricted Access group, tap beside the custom template that you want to manage;
- To edit the custom template, tap Edit, and follow the steps in “Create Custom Permissions”;
- To delete the custom template, tap Delete.
Switch MIP Accounts
After log in to the MIP server, you can switch MIP accounts with the following steps:
- Tap to open the Tool Selector;
- Tap ;
- Tap the account in the AD RMS Credential group;
- Input the new account and password to sign in.
Decrypt a PDF File Protected with Microsoft Information Protection
- On the document pane, tapon the toolbar on the top;
- Scroll down to find more options, and tap Microsoft Information Protect;
- Choose No Protection.
Protect Data with Microsoft Intune
You can use the mobile application management policies in Microsoft Intune to deploy Foxit PDF Reader Mobile and bring the app into line with your company compliance and security policies. Some of these functions include the features to restrict cut, copy, and paste operations within Foxit PDF Reader Mobile, or configure Foxit PDF Reader Mobile to open all web links in a managed browser.
